Step 1 - Register an account
The first step to bidding on any item in the auction is to register an account with Just Whisky. You should be of legal drinking age in your country or jurisdiction to bid on the auction platform. Registration is easy, and there is a one-time £5.00 membership fee. Registration takes just 60 seconds and once the membership fee is paid. your account will be activated immediately.
Step 2 - Browse the auction
Got an account? Great! Now you’ll be notified whenever we go live with a whisky auction. You’ll be able to browse all the items in the auction and can even search & filter to your hearts content. Interested in multiple bottles? You can add them to your watchlist and access that list from your account area at any time. You can also enter private notes on each lot, which are only visible by you.
Step 3 - Place your bids
Once you’ve found something you’re interested in, placing a bid is easy! Simply enter your maximum bid in the bid entry box. Our system will automatically bid the minimum amount required to secure the lot, up until the limits you set. If you are outbid, don’t worry – you’ll be notified immediately and have the opportunity to increase your bid.
You can view and manage all the items you’re interested in from your page in the account area.
Every Lot has a minimum bid increment that you’ll see next to the bid entry box. You can, of course, bid any amount you wish as long as it’s over the minimum. For example if a bottle has caught your eye and the current bid is £500, you’ll need to bid at least £525 to take the lead.
You will be notified automatically by e-mail if your bid has been successful. This information will also be available in the Account section of our website.
Step 4 – Auction End & Time Extensions
Timers on all lots are scheduled to end at 8pm (UK time) on the final day of the auction. In the interests of fairness and to give bidders the opportunity to increase their bid we have time extension software in place. Simply speaking, if the timer on a Lot has less than 5 minutes to go and someone places a bid on that Lot, then the timer on that Lot is extended by 15 minutes.
Step 5 - Pay for your whisky
If you’re lucky enough to win a Lot at auction, you’ll receive a notification inviting you to pay for your Lot(s). Payment must be made within 3 days of the auction end date, and can be made by Debit or Credit Card. We also accept Bank Transfers. A credit card surcharge of 3% is applied to non-UK and non-EU credit cards.
Buyer’s Premium of % is applied to the winning bids on all lots. If you’re located in the UK, NaN% VAT is applied to the Buyer’s Premium but not the winning bid. As an example, on a £100 winning bid, the Buyer’s Premium would be £NaN if you’re outside the UK, or £NaN if you’re inside the UK.
International Delivery or Storage?
Every month we ship hundreds of parcels all over the World. You can view our shipping rate calculator at any time when browsing the auction. We also offer insurance for your whisky priced at 3% of the winning bid. This protects your whisky in the unlikely event the worst happens in transit.
Do you prefer to store your whisky here? We’ve got you covered. Once you pay for your items, you'll get the first 45 days for free! With easy-to-manage blocks of 3, 6, and 12 months, you'll have no trouble extending your storage and keeping track of your items.
