Jura Superstition
70cl
Minor marks to box
The history of the Jura distillery is rich and detailed, beginning life as the Small Iles Distillery in 1810, it proved to be a tough location to make the distillery a going concern. Various owners came and went before the distillery closed in 1901 and all the production equipment was removed. And that was that - another distillery was consigned to history. Except, blenders, Charles Mackinlay & Co, who also owned Glen Albyn and Glen Mhor, saw the potential in the site and started work to revive it in 1960. The first spirit ran off the stills in 1963 and to this day, 1960s Jura is extremely well regarded by connoisseurs. Its single malt debut arrived in 1974 and since then, despite having several owners and brand changes, the Jura brand is well established internationally. Today, it is owned by Emperador and as recently as 2018, received a new look and range of whiskies.
