    Macallan Distil Your World
    Mexico Edition
    Lot #1350649

Distil Your World Mexico is 3rd release in Macallan's 'Distil Your World' series. It is a single malt that pays homage to the Day of the Dead Festival (Dia de Los Muerros in Spanish). This festival is widely celebrated throughout Mexico on the 1st & 2nd of November, and it is a time when loved ones can gather and remember cherished friends & family who have passed on. This release captures the essence of this dynamic festival, bringing together creativity, innovation, and artistry. Inspired by the Roco Brothers and The Macallan's Whisky Maker Diane Stuart, they have created a whisky that embodies the vibrancy of the Day of the Dead, with notes of creamy vanilla, sweet pineapple, and chocolatey Mexican mole with charred pineapple. Inside each pack, there are illustrations by Alfredo Rios, who has brought to life elements that are central to the festival. These include the Marigold Flower, Guitar, Flowers, Birds, Fish, and Hares. In 2023 this whisky was bottled and released at 48% ABV, after maturing in sherry-seasoned European & American oak. A total of 2500 bottles of this highly-sought after release were produced.

    Macallan

Founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, the Elchies Distillery as it was known initially, did not become the Macallan-Glenlivet in name until 1892. Since then, it has undergone massive expansion with Edrington and William Grant & Sons combining forces in 1999 to purchase Highland Distillers for £601 million. By then, the reputation of the distillery for its sherry-led style of whisky was already firmly in place. The new ownership model has enabled the distillery to produce new ranges, reach out to new demographics and establish itself as an international brand of quality. Bottles are Macallan are increasingly sought after for their commodity value and not the contents, which often are of high quality. Moving to a new distillery site in recent years, will in the long-term, allow Macallan to produce more and if needed, the old distillery sits idle despite being capable of producing 11 million litres before it closed in 2018.
